Ecuador (2022)

Images made on a journey to Ecuador. My father-in-law and his brother were born in Ecuador. This was after their parents had fled Nazi occupied Europe during the Holocaust in search of a country that would safely take them in. It was a trip to discover personal landmarks like old homes, neighborhoods, and family friends that were still alive. It was also to enjoy the country of their birth and the incredibly different environments that make up this beautiful place. I was tagging along to document their personal reunions. I was drawn to the women who were our hosts for afternoon tea and overnight stays, who displayed patience and comfort to myself and our family of travelers.
