ECHS students take part in an environmental trip each year. The senior trip takes place in Yosemite.
The final trip is both a culminating milestone and celebration.
These are their reflections.
ECHS students recently met Boojum Instructors at a trailhead in Joshua Tree National Park. What ensued was an expedition of moving through Joshua Tree and learning the lessons it had to offer. Many felt the challenge of hiking through the endless rocks and cactus, and at the end of the day they felt rewarded by a Joshua Tree sunset. In this film ECHS students talk about their experience, including a conversation about the uniqueness of the trees themselves.
This short film highlights a journey through Joshua Tree. Chandler's 6th grade is an adventurous bunch that seemed to really align with their school values. Boojum supported their expedition by providing insight into the natural world and offered challenging objectives that students confidently overcame. I was amazed at some of the responses I received when I asked students about their experience camping in the desert. There was an overwhelming theme of appreciation for having the space to push their comfort zones. I know that Boojum is very excited to continue the 3 year journey with these Chandler students!
